Grant Writer 

We are looking for a part-time/full-time grant writer to help Futurespark obtain the financial support and grants needed to sustain our mission. The grant writer would work with staff to find appropriate charitable grant opportunities and levels of funding; research new foundations for funding using Foundation Directory Online, newspapers, various resource publications, and contact sources (as provided through staff and Board member); Develop and maintain appropriate database to track foundations, program criteria, contacts, deadlines, grant makers funding cycle, and all other information necessary for grant seeking purposes. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree  and a minimum 3 years’ experience in grant writing or related business. • Computer literate with extensive experience in Microsoft Office. • Must show successful grant development or fundraising experience. • Interest in international development, girls education, social and digital innovation, and/or Africa • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to take initiative. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure • Capable of maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality • Portuguese/Spanish skills are a plus!

Internship — Research

This position would involve helping us with research and community needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and other means to improve current field projects and obtain data to help inform the development of future projects.  This internship can be based in several locations, but would require some travel to Mozambique or other field locations. Stipend and housing provided.

• Bachelor’s degree  and a preferably Master's degree, with an interest in human security, gender and development, illicit markets, capacity building, social enterprise, or girls education in Africa, South America, and India. 

 

Internship — Global Community Engagement

This position would involve helping us create and maintain our social media presence, while also helping engage our global community through a series of digital media projects to help us tell our stories of our work and the girls. Ideally, this intern will take the initiative to create and propose a strategy for global engagement through social media and execute the strategy with team support. This internship can be based in any location, and working remotely is possible. Stipend and housing provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree/Master's degree, an interest in human security, gender and development, illicit markets, capacity building, social enterprise, or girls education in Africa, South America, and India. Portuguese/Spanish skills a plus! 

Internship — Digital Storytelling 

This position would be focused on the FutureSpark Digital Storytelling Project. This is our flagship project. The intern would assist with workshop coordination, curriculum planning, editing projects, broadcasting stories online, and building and growing and storytelling platform. This internship can be based in any location, but will require travel to Mozambique during the annual week-long workshops. Stipend and housing provided.
